Monday Night Jazz Band - Big Band and Combos
Absorb professional-level performance techniques and concepts while learning classic literature from bandleaders Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Miles Davis and John Coltrane. The semester concludes with a themed concert in the Bowen Theatre on the campus of Maryland Hall in downtown Annapolis, Maryland.

Class Time: 6:00-8:00pm
Price: $250
Instruments Needed: saxophone (soprano, alto, tenor, baritone), trumpet, trombone, guitar, piano, bass, drums, percussion, flute, and clarinet.

Naptown Jazz Kids Big Band Invitational
Naptown Jazz Kids (NJK) Big Band Invitational is co-sponsored by The University of Maryland Baltimore County Department of Music.
Focusing on jazz education, this non-competitive festival offers students and directors from public, private, and community jazz programs the opportunity to directly collaborate with prominent jazz artists and educators from the Mid-Atlantic region.
The day will showcase student big band performances with adjudications, clinics, workshops, and jam sessions. The evening ceremony will feature the presentation of awards for best section(s) and outstanding soloist(s).
The festival will conclude with an evening concert with the U.S. Army Blues, featuring the winners from their national collegiate and high school solo competition.
Band registrations will take place on a first come first serve basis.

Naptown Jazz Kids (NJK) will host jam sessions during the spring semester. Dates and times are to be determined. The sessions will take place in Room 100 at Maryland Hall.
These jam sessions are enjoyable and informal events where musicians can play jazz standards and improvise over tunes and common chord progressions.
Bring a friend (and a tune you'd like to play), and share the music with others!

Naptown Jazz Kids Summer Camp 2025
Naptown Jazz Kids Summer Camp is a week-long immersive day camp for rising 6th through 12th graders. Summer Camp classes will include jazz improvisation, instrument and section masterclasses, pro-session performances, small and large ensemble performance opportunities, and a jazz jam to conclude each day!
